Meet The Couple Running Mumbai's First Hyperlocal Farm | Times Now Plus

Mumbai-based couple Sakina Rajkotwala & Joshua Lewis started the city's first hyperlocal indoor farm, Herbivore Farms back in 2017, with an aim of providing freshly harvested and sustainable produce to city dwellers. The farm uses hydroponic techniques to grow a variety of fresh greens, saving a bunch of water, land, and other resources in the process.Hydroponics is a method of growing plants without soil and uses less water than traditional soil-based systems and also allows faster growth and higher yields. The duo has also partnered with a network of farmers to source locally grown veggies and fruits to broaden their range of produce. With regards to the predicted food crisis around the world in 2030, the co-founders stated that 'hydroponics can't replace traditional farming ' but can serve as one of the many solutions to grow higher yields with fewer resources.Watch & Share!#sustainablility #Mumbai #India
