New Delhi: Union Minister Pralhad Joshi rained down on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over his 'promise of free electricity in other states' and called him a 'liar.' Pralhad Joshi raised questions about 'what Kejriwal has provided in Delhi before making promises to other states.' "Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is a liar. He's promised free electricity in many states. What has he provided in Delhi? Questions have been raised... if Delhi (government) schools are functioning well, then why are the children of AAP MLAs not studying there?" Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said.
Notably, Delhi CM and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal promised that his party will provide free electricity up to 300 units per month if voted to power in Gujarat during his visit to the state last month. The scheme will be implemented 3 months after the Assembly elections. The AAP chief also promised to waive off dues up to December 2021 if AAP is voted to power in the state.
"Our first promise is regarding power supply. People in Gujarat are in misery. The bills are too high. We have made power supply free in Delhi. About 25 lakh households in Punjab have just recently got zero electricity bills," Kejriwal said.
"AAP's popularity is growing in Gujarat! I asked the people whether we should provide free education, health, and electricity here. 99 per cent of the people said that there should be free education, 97 per cent of the people said that there should be free treatment in healthcare, 91 per cent said there should be free electricity," he added.
Citing AAP's record of keeping promises, Arvind Kejriwal noted that 'if you find any fault later, you are free not to vote for AAP in the next election. We will fulfil all the guarantees once we come to power in the State.'
