Prithvi Shaw is enjoying his time away from the game and has flown to Maldives to enjoy his holidays. The out-of-favour India batsman took to Instagram to share a video from Maldives, where he can be seen enjoying at a beach.
Shaw recently led Mumbai in the semi-final of Ranji Trophy 2021/22 and has taken some time off as there are no domestic matches going on. He isn't part of the national team and is on a rest before the start of the next season.
Before the 2nd round of the Ranji Trophy, Shaw featured in IPL 2022 for Delhi Capitals. During the season, he was hospitalised due to typhoid and missed two weeks of action. He recovered from it during the last few matches and made his return in the playing XI.
Shaw's previous international appearance came on the Sri Lanka tour last year. He, along with Suryakumar Yadav, was flown to England for a part of the Test series against the hosts but didn't get an opportunity. Suryakumar is also uncapped in Tests.
Shaw was dropped from the side after the England tour and has been away from the national team since then. The right-handed batsman didn't have a memorable IPL and he only managed 283 runs in 10 matches. While he did bat with a high strike-rate of 152.97, big scores continue to elude him.
As a result, Shaw wasn't considered for a place in the national team for the Ireland tour. The former India U-19 World Cup-winning captain, who scored a century on his Test debut in 2018, has only featured in 5 Tests, 6 ODIs and 1 T20I so far.
He isn't in contention to make it to the 2022 T20 World Cup squad and will hope to press his case for a recall with performances in domestic cricket.
