Uttar Pradesh: In a shocking incident, the bodies of a minor boy and a girl were found hanging from a tree. The incident occurred in the Basti district on June 27. According to the initial probe, it was revealed that the boy, a Hindu and the girl, a Muslim were in a relationship. Both aged 16.

After the incident was reported, the Circle officer (CO) including the police reached the spot and initiated the probe. The police brought the bodies down. During the investigation, their relatives revealed that both the teenagers were having an affair.

Suspecting a case of suicide, the police stated that the families have opposed their relationship which compelled them to take such a drastic step. The investigating team has sent the bodies for autopsy to establish the cause of death, TOI reported.

Furthermore, it was revealed that the deceased couple had met recently in the marketplace. Also, the boy was brutally trashed by the girl’s family member and had narrated his ordeal to the girl over the phone, before the incident occurred.

Police said that the duo had gone missing from their houses on June 27 morning and their relatives as well as villagers had begun a manhunt. Later, they found their bodies in a forest area right outside the village. “Any further action will be taken based on the autopsy report,” CO Ambika Rai said.
