Chandigarh: In a tragic incident, a nursing student (22) from Kashmir was found hanging at his hostel room in Bathinda’s Katar Singh Wala. The incident occurred on October 1.
According to the police, the deceased was studying in the second year of BSc (nursing) at Punjab Nursing College on Bathinda-Mansa Road. Prima facie it appeared to be a suicide case; however, the prime cause of death is yet to be revealed, said a police official.
As per the report published in Hindustan Times, after taking leave from his academic work on October 1, the deceased student went to his hostel, where his friends later found him hanging with a ceiling fan. He was rushed to a private hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police officials said the deceased’s family has been contacted and the matter is being investigated.
Recently, in April 2022, a MBBS student (21) of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH)-32 was found hanging inside her residence. Police said that there were injury marks on the right hand of the victim and her feet were tied with a cloth when the body was discovered. Police later recovered a suicide note from the spot and went on to rule out foul play behind the death.
Police said the medical student had not blamed anyone for her extreme step. According to the suicide note, she had tendered an apology to her parents for not fulfilling their dreams. Probe so far has revealed that the student had dropped out of the previous semester.
