New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain for several parts of India for the next five days. An orange alert has been issued for Sunday swathes of Kerala, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The weather department has also warned of the possibility of water logging, disruption of traffic, landslides and more.
According to the weather department, fairly widespread or moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorm and lightning is very likely over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on Sunday and Monday. Similar weather conditions are likely to prevail over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya during the next five days. Isolated very heavy rainfall also likely over Arunachal Pradesh and Assam and Meghalaya today.
Fairly widespread or moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorms is also very likely over Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh till tomorrow and over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next five days.
Similar conditions are also likely over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during this time.
Isolated very heavy rainfall is likely over Uttarakhand today.
The Met department has also predicted widespread rain for north interior Karnataka, Telangana and Rayalaseema between August 28 and 30. Coastal Andhra Pradesh, south interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Mahe and coastal Karnataka are also likely to receive widespread rainfall over the next few days.
"Isolated very heavy rainfall also likely over Kerala and Mahe on 28th August," the IMD said today.
