The 12-minute video shows Jacob jumping out of a plane and letting the aircraft crash to the ground 20 minutes later.
The clip, which now has over 2 million views, shows the YouTuber parachuting from the Taylorcraft BL64 plane. Later, a shot shows the aircraft crashing into the hills of Los Padres National Forest in California.
According to reports, Jacob had purchased the plane with plans of flying it from Barbara to Mammoth Lakes.
Following the incident, he claimed that he had to abandon the aircraft mid-flight because it lost power.
Interestingly, the exit from the plane was captured cleanly on camera and the YouTuber also trekked to the site of the wreckage.
After the video went viral, aviation experts said the incident was staged for internet clout. Many raised questions over the fact that he had multiple cameras set up outside the plane to capture the exit.
The FAA launched an investigation into the incident and concluded that Jacob deliberately crashed his plane to get more views on YouTube.
As a punishment, his flying licence was revoked and he is not allowed to reapply for a year.
FAA also sent a letter to the YouTuber, detailing the pieces of evidence that led to their conclusion.
