Allahabad University fee hike protest is ongoing and as a recent development, the Vice Chancellor created a committee including teachers and administration. AU invited group of students to discuss the matter in the North Hall today, September 29, 2022. Students submitted a list of candidates who will appear for the discussion. AU rejected the list as it included names of the ex-students of the University including the former student union president Richa Singh.
The University of Allahabad stated in its official statement, "The committee, after waiting for 2 hours, decided that he would be present in the North Hall on 29 September 2022 to resume the talks, with the condition that the talks include former members of the student union, suspended students, students of other colleges or alumni. will not be negotiated with."
The committee formed by the VC decided to resume the talks and discussion today, September 29 in the North Hall with the condition that the students coming for discussion do not include former members of the student union, suspended students, students of other colleges or alumni.
The controversy over fee hike started almost a month ago when the revised fee structure was announced to be implemented. Earlier, the fee per student annually was Rs 975 which comes to Rs 81 per month. The university fee has been enhanced to Rs 4,151 per year or Rs 333 per month which is almost a hike of 400%.
The University further instructed the students to not follow the rumors and get manipulated by people with vested interests and political ambition. The University will listen to the students of the college.
