Trapped by dark web hackers; Gujarat teen found in state of shock from Rajasthan

Ajmer: A Gujarat teen was found in a haphazard state roaming around in Ajmer Dargah area. After investigation, it was found that the teen was trapped by some hackers on the dark web which resulted in the loss of about Rs 5 lakhs from his mother’s account, reported Dainik Bhaskar.

The 17-year-old minor is a class 12 student in Bharuch, Gujarat. He was apprehended by the police in a state of shock and fright and handed him over to a government-run child welfare group.

The welfare group officials said that the child had some scratch marks on his body and he looked to be from a good family. In a relatively comfortable environment, the teen started talking.

Initially, the kid said he was kidnapped but could not corroborate the full story but then he started speaking about the dark web and the deep web. That’s when the child psychologists realised that he was trapped by hackers on the deep web.

The teen is the son of a Bharuch-based businessman in Gujarat. He disappeared from home in Gujarat on Thursday last week and was discovered in Ajmer on Saturday by the family members.

The amount withdrawn from the mother's account was a loan amount, which was taken to send the elder brother of the teen to Canada. The hackers took the amount, about 4 lakh 82 thousand rupees from the account.

After this, the child reportedly ran away from home fearing the family’s reaction. As per the officials, the family is tense due to recent events, the child not being normal and the loss of money. At the moment they are not talking much to the child.

Deep Web is that part of the internet which is not available on regular search engines and constitutes about 90 percent of the content on the internet. Deep Web needs passwords to access like your email inbox or net banking. It is not usually harmful. However, five percent of the deep web’s content is known as Dark Web and is used for both legal and illegal work.

This dark web includes platforms for black marketing, drug dealing, trafficking, and money laundering, among many other such crimes.
