Ahmedabad: Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday hit back at the BJP's allegations against him of distributing freebies and asked where would poor go, if governments don't help them.
While speaking to media, he said, "In this country even after 75th independence day, if people say free education is revri, where will the poor go?... Forgiving a loan of Rs 10 lakh cr to your friend is criminal, it is that which is 'free revri'."
Earlier, AAP's national joint general secretary Isudan Gadhvi informed that Kejriwal will visit Ahmedabad on Wednesday ahead of Rakshabandhan festival and announce a new 'guarantee' which 'benefit' "2.5 crore people" of Gujarat.
"People are very much enthusiastic about the guarantee of free electricity announced by Kejriwal (during earlier visit). Even BJP workers are excited about this and are asking why the BJP government did not provide them (people of Gujarat) such a relief," Gadhvi said.
During his visit to poll-bound Gujarat o August 6 and 7, the AAP chief tried to woo the tribal electorate by promising implementation of the Panchayat (Extension to Scheduled Areas) (PESA) Act if his party gets elected in the 2022 Gujarat election. The Act gives special powers to gram sabhas (village councils) especially in management of natural resources.
Kejriwal also assured that a guaranteed jobs scheme would be implemented for the unemployed youth and Rs 3,000 per month allowance will be provided until they get a job.
The AAP chief also visited traders in Gujarat's Jamnagar where he promised five guarantees.
"A lot of support is being received from the people of Gujarat. We will first eliminate the atmosphere of fear. The second guarantee is to respect the businessmen. The third guarantee is to eliminate corruption. The fourth guarantee is to clear the pending issues related to VAT and the fifth guarantee is to create an advisory body and the government would act on its suggestions," he said.
While appealing to the people of Gujarat to vote for his party in the upcoming election, the national convener of the AAP, promised to provide free electricity up to 300 units per month if AAP gets elected to power.
