Ludhiana: The autopsy report of a woman Mandeep Kaur who was shot dead by her live-in partner confirmed that she had been physically assaulted before being killed. The accused Sukhwinder Singh works as a police constable with the Punjab police.
The doctors said that there were seven injury marks on Mandeep’s body like bruises on her thigs and shoulders. However initially the doctors could not ascertain as to whether Mandeep had shot herself or was shot dead as the doctors at the DMC hospital where she had been taken first had cleaned her wounds.
Dr Charan Kamal, one of the doctors who performed the autopsy on Mandeep's body said that there were seven injury marks on her body, all bruises on her shoulder and thighs, which suggested that she had been physically assaulted before being shot dead. When inquired about whether Mandeep had been sexually assaulted, he said there were no signs of that however, they have sent the swab samples for examination just to be sure, Times of India reported.
Dr Kamal further said that they could not ascertain whether Mandeep had shot herself or had been shot by someone else as her wounds had been cleaned by the doctors at DMC hospital. However, he said that preliminary examination of the shot wound hinted that Mandeep hadn't been shot from close range. Dr Kamal said that they are getting the ballistics done in the case.
Sukhwinder Singh was booked by Division number 8 Police for the murder of Mandeep and also booked his friend constable Noni and a woman friend Tanu for helping in erasing evidence.
