Akshay Kumar will team up with Aanand L Rai again if Raksha Bandhan works: ‘I have done two films with him and...’

The actor-director duo of Akshay Kumar and Aanand L Rai have collaborated on two movies thus far, Atrangi Re which premiered on OTT last year and Raksha Bandhan which is slated to release soon. In a short span of time, Akshay and Aanand have developed a solid professional and personal bond.

At the song launch event of their newest offering, Khiladi Kumar opened up about working with Aanand in the future. He also spoke about how he came on board for Raksha Bandhan.

Laying one condition for doing another film with the Zero director, Akshay said, “Aanand ji is a very good person. I have done two films with him and I will do one more film with him if Raksha Bandhan works.”

Further, the 54-year-old actor revealed that he said yes to Raksha Bandhan within the first few minutes of the narration. “Aanand ji narrated two lines of the story in the morning at my office, saying there are four sisters and this is the situation. I said yes to it. Some stories are universal and they touch you within five minutes. Even with Good Newwz, within three to five minutes I liked it and said okay to it. If somebody else had listened to this story (Raksha Bandhan), they would have said yes to it,” Akshay shared.

Depicting the relationship between a brother and his four sisters, Raksha Bandhan features Bhumi Pednekar opposite Akshay. The characters of the sisters have been portrayed by Sahejmeen Kaur, Deepika Khanna, Sadia Khateeb, and Smrithi Srikanth.

The film will hit the screens on August 11, clashing with Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer Laal Singh Chaddha. There is a tremendous buzz in the trade for the mega clash between the two superstars.
