New Delhi: A purported video has surfaced online in which students of Indian Institute of Technology - Banaras Hindu University (IIT-BHU) are seen dancing on the 'vulgar' Bhojpuri item numbers following flag hoisting on August 15 Independence Day.
The incident was caught on camera. The video of the event has gone viral on social media. Meanwhile, a probe has been ordered into the incident by the university authorities who reportedly called act "indecent and objectionable".
The video of the event has been shared on Twitter in which students could be seen dancing on the Bhojpuri songs in what seems to be inside the college where the flag hoisting was conducted on the Independence Day, according to a report in Hindustan Times.
After the video went viral, the incident has drawn criticism from social media users. It is reported that the students allegedly connected their mobile phones to the sound system and played the songs and started dancing after the teachers and non-teaching staff left the venue following the flag hoisting.
As the loud sound of 'vulgar' songs was heard by the campus staff, the music was reportedly shut and students were asked to leave the ground.
Meanwhile, Joint registrar Rajan Srivastava has assured action once the probe report is out. He said a probe committee has been formed to look into the incident, said the report.
