Mumbai: The Mumbai police's anti-narcotics unit (ANC) said that it had apprehended three more suspects in connection with a March and has recovered 709 kg of mephedrone from them, which is valued at Rs 1,403 crore internationally. With the recent arrests, there were a total of five arrests made in this case.
According to ANC deputy commissioner of police Datta Nalawade, one of the accused utilised his knowledge of organic chemistry to prepare mephedrone and supply it to their clients, who he reached out through social media.
According to the police, two persons have already been apprehended on the Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road in relation to the case that the ANC Worli section filed in March. The police were looking for a lady after learning she was engaged in supplying the mephedrone, The Indian Express reported.
The woman was located on July 27 and taken into custody. Another suspect was detained on August 2 as a result of her interrogation. When the four accused were questioned collectively by the police, it was discovered that they had obtained the drug from a fifth individual.
Datta Nalawade said, "We apprehended the fifth individual, and it emerged during his questioning that he had studied organic chemistry."
His questioning led the police to a location in Nallasopara from which the ANC on Wednesday recovered the mephedrone. The police are currently looking for the location where the accused made the drug.
