New Delhi: The National Investigating Agency (NIA) on Thursday conducted searches at multiple locations in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with its probe regarding arms, ammunition and explosives being dropped in the state from Pakistan via drones.
“Module of The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), was engaged in receiving the consignment of arms, ammunition and explosives via drones in the Samba sector,” an NIA official said.
The investigating agency added that TRF operatives who were in touch with the LeT Pakistani handlers were receiving the consignments.
“These consignments were then used for carrying out terror attacks on minorities, security forces and migrants,” the official further stated.
The raids were conducted at eight locations in Jammu and Kashmir, including Srinagar, Jammu, four places in Kathua, one in Samba and one in Doda.
Digital devices, SIM cards and documents have been recovered during the raids. No arrest has been made so far, the officials said.
This is a two-month-old case registered in Kathua on May 29 and was taken up by the NIA on July 30 after being handed over to it by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
In a separate incident, the agency also conducted searches at two locations in Punjab in connection with its probe regarding the seizure of IEDs, and arms and ammunition from Batrara toll plaza in Madhuban in Haryana’s Karnal district.
The raids were carried out in SAS Nagar and Taran Taran. Electronic devices and empty cartridges were recovered.
The investigating agency took over this case on May 24 earlier this year.
