Chandigarh: The Special Investigation Team probing the killing of Congress leader Sidhu Moose Wala today said that it had taken two other gangsters lodged in different Punjab jails into custody in connection with the gruesome murder. The Punjab Police had reconstituted the SIT probing the death of the singer earlier today. Officials however say that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi whose name has been linked to the attack is not cooperating with the police during the investigation.
The reconstituted SIT will function under the overall supervision of additional director general of police, anti gangster task force, Parmod Ban. The new order issued by the DGP says that the probe team can coopt any police officer and take the assistance of any expert with prior approval.
Earlier this week police inspector general Pradeep Yadav had constituted the three-member SIR under the supervision of the Mansa SSP. According to a Hindustan Times report, the team was reconstituted over the possible involvement of interstate gangs and weapons smuggled in from Pakistan.
At present, Delhi Police's Special Cell has obtained 5-day custody of Bishnoi who is lodged in Tihar jail in a case under the Arms Act and other sections related to assault on a public servant. The Punjab Police contend that the gangster was behind the killing. "Lawrence and Goldy Brar use new shooters every time so that the police can't reach them easily and even if they reach, they can't link it with them," sources told news agency ANI today.
Bishnoi has insisted that he had nothing to do with the murder, also disassociating himself from the social media post in which his gang member Goldy Brar claimed responsibility for the murder.
Police sources claim that Moose Wala's murder was motivated by a desire to take revenge for the murder of Vicky Muthikheda as well as being linked to music industry business. Reportedly, gangster Vicky used to invest money in helping new artists launching their albums (and music careers). Later, they would stake a claim to a share of the artist's earnings.
Moose Wala's manager is allegedly involved in Vicky's murder.
