Tamil Nadu job racket: Police hunt for couple who cheated aspirants of more than 2 crores

A special team of The Tamil Nadu police has been constituted to hunt down a couple who had cheated several job aspirants in Coimbatore and Madurai of around Rs 2 crore by promising them government jobs. Police have registered a case under Sections 120(B), 420, 468, and 471 of the Indian Penal Code.

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu police have constituted a special time to hunt down and nab a couple who cheated several job aspirants of more than Rs 2 crores by offering them government jobs. The couple has been identified as Dhanya and her husband Karunanidhi from Coimbatore, reported IANS.
Sources in the Police told IANS that Dhanya posed as a doctor in an Employees' State Insurance (ESI) hospital and promised a job to several people and took money from them in return. Dhanya contacted job aspirants through her driver, Pradeep of Sulur who in turn told the aspirants that she would help them get jobs.
The IANS report stated that a complaint was first raised by P. Nufail (23) of SRS Nagar at Sulur. Nufail mentioned in his police complaint that he had paid Rs 3 lakh to Dhanya and her husband to procure a nursing job for his sister. He also said the couple took another Rs 5 lakhfrom him by promising him a clerical job. He mentioned that he had transferred Rs 2 lakh to the couple’s bank account on September 20 and gave them Rs 3 lakh in cash on the following day.
Nufail also said that later the couple informed him that there were more vacancies in the government sector and asked him to refer some of his friends. Allegedly Rs 50 lakh were collected from eight people through Nufail’s reference.
Meanwhile another individual, Murugan has also raised a complaint with the police that the same couple had taken Rs 15 lakh from him by promising him a job in the ESI hospital. Police sources told IANS that a total amount of Rs 2 crore was collected from several people in Coimbatore and Madurai promising government jobs. Police have registered a case under Sections 120(B), 420, 468, and 471 of the Indian Penal Code.
