IMD issues heavy rain alert for several districts of MP, Maharashtra, Karnataka - Latest forecast

IMD rain alert for MP, Maharashtra, Karnataka

New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for several districts of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Himachal for Friday. In Maharashtra, districts of Satara, Ratnagiri, Pune, Raigad, Palghar, and Nashik are expected to receive heavy showers on Friday.
A heavy rain alert has also been issued for Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka. In Karnataka, six districts are expected to see heavy rain while in Madhya Pradesh, 25 districts will be affected. The weather office has issued an alert for Uttar Kannada, Shimoga, Udupi, Chikmagalur, Dakshin Kannada, and Kodagu.
In the north, Himachal's Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla, Solan, and Sirmaur are likely to witness heavy rainfall on August 12. In neighbouring Punjab and Haryana, light to moderate rain is likely in some parts as the weather agency has issued a yellow alert for some districts.
For Rajasthan, the IMD has predicted heavy rain over Udaipur, Dungarpur, and Banswara. In Uttar Pradesh, most parts will see no rain while some districts in the southern part are likely to moderate rain as the weather office has issued a yellow alert for today.
In a daily weather update, the IMD on Thursday said Widespread to isolated heavy rainfall with thunderstorms is very likely over Madhya Pradesh till 14th August; Chhattisgarh on 13th and 15th; Gujarat on 12th, 13th and 15th; Konkan, Goa, and central Maharashtra during 12th-15th August 2022.
In the east and northeast region, the weather office has predicted fairly widespread to heavy falls over Gangetic West Bengal on 14th; Jharkhand on 13th and 14th; Odisha on 12th; Arunachal Pradesh on 13th and 14th; Assam and Meghalaya during 13th-15th and over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during 12th-15th August.
Also, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the North Bay of Bengal around 13th August, the weather office said. It is likely to become more marked during subsequent 24 hours and move west-northwestwards.
