New Delhi: According to an official release, the Delhi government would build an integrated transit corridor and enhance street network connectivity to relieve traffic at the Peeragarhi junction and its surrounding districts.
The construction of a new flyover, an underground U-turn, two foot over bridges, widening of an existing over bridge, and slip roads in the area are among the numerous measures the Delhi government would take, according to the statement.
Manish Sisodia, the deputy chief minister of Delhi, visited the junction site on Wednesday and stated that the project, which would be finished in 1.5 years, will help thousands of commuters from Delhi and Haryana by reducing travel time during rush hours.
The initiative to clear traffic at Peeragarhi Junction has reportedly been started from Jwala Heri Market — Chaudhary Balbir Singh traffic light to Jwalapuri traffic light on NH 10 or Rohtak Road, according to a statement from the Delhi government.
The project involves widening ROB (road over bridge) into Mangolpuri alongside Ring Road, building a new flyover on Laxmi Narayan Mandir Road, and installing a U-turn underpass for right-turning traffic on Chaudhary Balbir Singh Mar, according to the statement.
In order to promote easy and secure pedestrian movement, two foot-over-bridges would also be built on both sides of Rohtak Road near Peeragarhi Chowk, it was said.
Peeragarhi crossroads is a crucial crossing point between Delhi and Haryana, according to Sisodia, who also holds the PWD portfolio, and the amount of traffic on the road has grown over time.
"The Kejriwal government is committed to giving all Delhi commuters a hassle-free commute experience. The government has begun the initiative to clear the traffic at Peeragarhi junction, which runs from the red light at Jwala Heri Market (Chaudhary Balbir Singh) to the red light at Jwalapuri on NH-10 (Rohtak Road).
