Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation Ltd (KSIDC) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the dairy sector major Muralya Dairy Products (P) Ltd for setting up a mega-dairy project and logistics unit in KSIDC’s Industrial Area at Angamaly in Ernakulam district. Muralya Dairy Products is an arm of the UAE-based SFC group, and the new project is its second unit in the state.

Thiruvananthapuram: In a move to improve the diary industry and cater to the demands of the people in north Kerala, Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation Ltd (KSIDC) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the dairy sector major Muralya Dairy Products (P) Ltd for setting up a mega-dairy project and logistics unit in KSIDC’s Industrial Area at Angamaly in Ernakulam district.
The MoU was signed by MG Rajamanickam IAS, Managing Director, KSIDC and K Muraleedharan, Chairman and Managing Director, Muralya Dairy Products in the presence of Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan and Minister of Industries, Law and Coir, P Rajeev.
Muralya Dairy Products is an arm of the UAE-based SFC group, and the new project is its second unit in the state. SFC Group is a diversified business entity with business interests in the Middle East and India. The first unit of Muralya Dairy Products was established at Thiruvananthapuram in 2014. The new Mega Dairy Project and Logistics unit is being set up at an outlay of Rs. 100 crore to cater to the demand of the central and north Kerala regions. The project is being set up on 4.60 acres of leased land in KSIDC’s Industrial Area at Angamaly. The project is expected to commence commercial operations within 2 years-3 years, and generate employment for at least 5,200 people (roughly 300 direct jobs and 4,900 indirect jobs) in the state.
The plant will have an installed capacity of 100 KLPD for liquid milk. The product segment includes fluid milk variants and milk products such as paneer, butter (in cubes, plane & table), ice cream, flavoured fresh milk etc... The product line will also include premium varieties of fluid milk like farm fresh wholesome milk, a2 milk, lactogen-free milk and UHT. The proposed project will be a step towards achieving self-sufficiency in milk production in Kerala.
Mr Rajamanickam said, “KSIDC being the premier investment and industrial promotion agency of the state government, is proud to be the key agency in bringing in yet another milestone investment to the state’s industrial sector”. He also informed that KSIDC will further facilitate necessary assistance for the company in establishing and ensuring smooth operations in the state by way of providing financial support, infrastructure developmental support, time bound clearances and other assistance as per the prevailing policies and regulations of the state government.
