Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the outcome of the 47th Goods and Service Tax (GST) Council meeting on Wednesday. From revising rates of various items to levying a uniform GST rate, several key issues have been discussed during the two-day meeting in Chandigarh. Here are the Key Highlights, - No discussion on cryptocurrency during two days of the GST Council meeting, says FM Sitharaman.- The council on Wednesday deferred a decision to impose 28 percent GST on online gaming, casino, and race courses, Sitharaman mentioned. - The GST Council on Wednesday took no decision on extending beyond this month the compensation paid to states for revenue lost from the implementation of GST. - The GST Council considered 4 reports presented by the Group of Ministers (GoMs); the 4 reports were on the following topics: Rate rationalization; betting, gambling, lottery; IT and technology-related changes; movement of precious metals like gold.
