Prashant's father was 'murdered' too: Report
Sources told Times Now that Prashant was traveling on his two-wheeler when a group of people followed him in an auto-rickshaw. The group hacked him to death. Police recovered weapons and the auto-rickshaw from the spot where the incident took place. Prashant was a councilor of Ward no 21 in HCMC. According to local media reports, police are suspecting personal rivalry behind the incident.
His father was also allegedly murdered in the past. Karnataka leader Hardanahalli Devegowda Revanna met the family members of the slain JDS leader and slammed the police for the incident.
In 2018, a JD(S) leader Prakash was hacked to death by four men in a similar manner. The attackers chased Prakash's vehicle and forced it to stop before attacking him with machetes. After that incident, then chief minister HD Kumaraswamy was caught on camera telling a senior police officer to 'mercilessly kill' those behind the death of Prakash.
“He (JDS leader H Prakash) was a good man, I don’t know why did they murder him. Kill them (the assailants) mercilessly in a shootout, no problem," he was seen saying in a video released by news agency ANI. Kumaraswamy's office had later clarified that it was an emotional decision since the then CM was shocked to hear about a loyal worker's death.
