The National Pension System (NPS) offers a range of investment options and choice of pension funds to investors. Introduced by the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority in 2004, NPS allows subscribers in the age bracket of 18 to 60 years to open accounts.
NPS account balance has two elements. The first is the voluntary annual contributions you make to your NPS account, and the second is the income from investing 40 percent of the maturity amount in annuities.
According to the NPS trust website, “The Statement of Transaction (SOT) for your NPS account shall be printed and dispatched to your registered address once in a year by the respective CRA. Soft copy shall also be provided periodically to your registered email id. However, subscribers can now download their Statement of Transaction online at any time.”
You can check the balance online anytime anywhere by visiting the respective CRA, NPS mobile app, using Umang, and through SMS.

1: Visit the NSDL portal.
2: To log in, use your PRAN as a user ID and your account password.
3: Enter Captcha code to proceed.
4: Click on "Holding Statement" option under the "Transaction Statement" section.

Subscribers can download the NPS by Protean app to view the most recent account information that is available on the CRA website. After downloading, the subscriber must key in the PRAN (Permanent Retirement Account Number) and PIN received with the PRAN welcome kit.
The total NPS holding value as of the date can be seen after successful login. It also displays the subscriber's holdings in their Tier I and Tier II accounts. Details of the last five transactions are also displayed. The subscriber has access to profile information such the registered email address and mobile number. The application allows for the modification of these specifics.

NPS services are provided via the UMANG platform, which was developed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the National e-Governance division.
1: Download and open the UMANG app on your phone, then look for NPS services.
2: Tap on your pertinent CRA after choosing the "NPS" option.
3: Enter your Permanent Retirement Allotment Number (PRAN) and password on the following screen after selecting the "Current Holding" option.
4: To access the details of your account balance, finally tap "Login."
