Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan 1 becomes fastest Rs 100 crore grosser in Tamil Nadu - see latest box office update

Ponniyin Selvan 1, helmed by Mani Ratnam, released on September 30. The film stars an ensemble cast including Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu, R. The film, which is on its way to create several box office records, has become the fastest Rs 100 crore grosser in Tamil Nadu. Backed by Ratnam and Subaskaran Allirajah under Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, Ponniyin Selvan 1 marks the first of two cinematic parts based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel of the same name. The film has received superlative reviews from fans and film industry members alike. Kamal Haasan, in his verdict of the film, said he was awed by the film, adding that Tamil cinema fans would feel the same about Ponniyin Selvan 1.
