Triumph Tiger Sport 660 vs Kawasaki Versys 650: Which tourer is cheaper to buy?

Triumph's Tiger range has always been known for taking on uncharted terrains with the same ease as it cruises on a highway. And this is why it has been one of the best selling bikes in the British motorcycle maker's global lineup. But over the last few years, we have seen Triumph attempting to make Tiger a more accessible range by introducing Tiger models with lower capacity engines. As a result, we have several Triumph Tiger bikes to choose from, making this the best time for those looking to get their hands on a Tiger bike. The recently launched Tiger Sport 660 is the entry-level bike in the Tiger range and gets a price tag of ₹8.95 lakh (ex-showroom, India). And despite being the cheapest Tiger bike, the Sport 660 is an expensive motorcycle, especially as compared to rivals like Kawasaki Versys 650. Don't believe us? Let's look at some numbers then.

But before we delve into the price difference between Triumph Tiger Sport 660 and Kawasaki Versys 650, let's take a look at their performance specifications. The Tiger Sport 660 has a 660 cc three-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that is capable of delivering 80 bhp at 10,250 rpm and a very usable peak torque of 64 Nm at 6,250 rpm. This powerplant is paired to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch for easy gearshifts.

Kawasaki Versys 650, on the other hand, has a 649 cc parallel-twin engine that makes 66 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 61 Nm of peak torque 7,000 rpm. This engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox.

Triumph Tiger Sport 660 gets a price tag of ₹8.95 lakh. In comparison to this, the Kawasaki Versys 650 costs ₹7.15 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.

This clearly tells us that the Tiger Sport 660 is ₹1.8 lakh costlier than the Kawasaki Versys 650. This is a significant price difference but the Tiger's superior suspension setup better onboard gadgetry, and powerful engine do offset that price difference by a considerable margin.
