Aamir Khan is not leaving any stone unturned to make sure that his labour of love Laal Singh Chaddha gets wholeheartedly accepted by the audience across the nation.
Ahead of the release, Aamir, who portrays a Sikh character in Laal Singh Chaddha, held a screening of the film for the members of the Sikh religious body Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) as he did not want to hurt the religious sentiments of the Sikh community in any which way.
Much to the delight of Aamir and the entire team of Laal Singh Chaddha, the members of the SGPC gave a big thumbs up to the Advait Chandan directorial. The traditional Sikh body approved of Aamir’s Sardar character in the comedy-drama.
"As the film is based in Punjab and Aamir Khan is playing the character of a Sikh, the makers wanted to get every single detail right and now that the film is ready, they screened it for the members of SGPC who loved the film," production sources were quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
Thrilled with the SGPC members’ positive response to Laal Singh Chaddha, Aamir said, “I was very touched with the reaction of the members of the SGPC. I am so glad that our film touched their hearts so deeply.”
The encouraging verdict of the SGPC comes as a relief for Aamir amid the ongoing boycott trends on social media. Netizens have been calling for a boycott of Laal Singh Chaddha due to various reasons but particularly because of Aamir’s controversial comments which he made back in 2015.
Reacting to the negativity around his production, Aamir told India Today, “Yes, I feel sad. Also, I feel sad that some of the people who are saying this, in their heart, they believe that I am someone who doesn't like India. In their hearts they believe, but it is untrue. It is rather unfortunate that some people feel that way. That's not the case. Please don't boycott my film. Please watch my film.”
Also featuring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh, and Naga Chaitanya, Laal Singh Chaddha releases August 11.
