Kamal Haasan's Vikram scripts box office history, registers highest ever footfalls in 100 years of Tamil Cinema

Kamal Haasan starrer Vikram has been on a record-smashing spree ever since it arrived in theatres. After emerging as the highest-grossing Tamil film, it has now registered record footfalls as well. Read on to know the details.

Kamal Haasan fronted Vikram, which arrived on the big screen on June 3, 2022, has completed its glorious theatrical run after a total of 113 days. The action thriller has scripted history at the Tamil Nadu box office by breaking a bunch of records. It had already surpassed SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Conclusion to become the highest-grossing film in Tamil Cinema.
Now, by the end of its run in the theatres, Vikram also registered the highest ever footfalls for a Tamil film in 100 years of the history of the industry. Trade analyst Ramesh Bala took to Twitter to share the feats of the film.

Vikram continued its dream run in theatres continues despite having been released on an OTT platform on July 8. Not just in the domestic market, the film has fared exceedingly well internationally as well as its worldwide gross stands in the excess of Rs 500 crore.
Speaking of its domestic box office collection, Vikram made Rs 164.75 crore in its first week, followed Rs 72.50 crores in the second week. The film closed its third week with a total of Rs 38.50 crore and the fourth week with Rs 21.50 crore in its kitty. The film finished its fifth-weekend raking in Rs 5.25 crore approx.
Written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Vikram also features Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil, and Suriya in pivotal roles.
