While Christian Bale plays Gorr the God Butcher in the upcoming sequel Thor: Love and Thunder, he recently said that he’d return to another iconic comic book role if given the chance.
Bale was questioned about the prospect of putting on the hood once more and taking on the mantle of Batman in a recent interview with Variety. The actor claimed that he has never been asked about reprising the part, although he did say that he would agree to do so if director Christopher Nolan ever asked him to. Yep, you read that right!
“No. No one’s ever mentioned it to me. No one’s brought it up,” Christian said. “Occasionally people say to me, ‘Oh, I hear you were approached and offered all this.’ And I’m like, ‘That’s news to me. No one’s ever said that.'”
“I had a pact with Chris Nolan. We said, ‘Hey, look. Let’s make three films, if we’re lucky enough to get to do that. And then let’s walk away. Let’s not linger too long.’ In my mind, it would be something if Chris Nolan ever said to himself, ‘You know what, I’ve got another story to tell.’ And if he wished to tell that story with me, I’d be in.”
Bale played Bruce Wayne/Batman in Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises, the three movies that are regarded as the best live-action Batman movies to date. Although the final scene of the third movie appeared to be the last for Bale's portrayal of Batman, it's not completely unlikely that Bale may make another appearance if Nolan is interested.
We’re rooting for it, aren’t we?
