Religious Names For Political Parties: EC Puts The Ball In SC's Court I Mirror Now I Latest Updates

In the latest update about political parties using religious names and symbols, the Election Commission (EC) put the ball in the honorable Supreme Court’s court to take the call. The two parties mainly under discussion are the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and Indian Union Muslim League (IMUL). Interestingly, both parties had registered their names prior to 2005. Thus, the EC stated that it held no power to de-register these parties and act against them. It is now in the hands of the SC to decide whether or not these parties need to change their names.
