Hardik Pandya continued his incredible year and played a knock for the ages in the ongoing first T20I between India and Australia at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Stadium in Mohali. Pandya was at his brutal best with the bat and launched a dramatic assault on the Australian bowlers.
Earlier in the day, Australia won the toss and chose to bowl first and got a brilliant start with senior batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli departing in the powerplay for low scores of 11 and 2 respectively. However, a 78-run partnership from KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav put the team back on track as the duo continued to bat aggressively despite the early wickets.
Rahul put concerns about his form to bed with a 32-ball half-century which was the 18th of his career. On the other hand, Suryakumar Yadav scored a 25-ball 46. Hardik ensured India did not feel the impact of Rahul and Suryakumar departure and looked in fluent touch from the first ball.
Despite Axar Patel and Dinesh Karthik failing to stay for long at the crease, Hardik continued his dramatic onslaught on the visitors. He ended the innings in style by smashing three consecutive sixes off the bowling of Cameron Green in the last three balls of the innings. His incredible knock earned him a massive praise on social media
