After India's two back-to-back series wins against Australia and South Africa in the shortest format of the game at home, India have travelled to Australia as they are all set to begin their campaign for the T20 World Cup 2022. India will be aiming to win their second-ever trophy after MS Dhoni led the Men in Blue to triumph in the 2007 edition.
However, India face a pretty tough test right in their very first game. Rohit Sharma's Team India will take on arch-rivals Pakistan in their very first game of the T20 World Cup 2022 on October 23. The last time the two sides met in the T20 World Cup last year, resulted in India losing their first ever match to Pakistan in a World Cup game. In fact, the last time India and Pakistan met was in the Super Four game of the Asia Cup 2022 where the Men in Blue suffered a heartbreaking loss.
However, former India all-rounder Sanjay Bangar feels that India will have an upper hand over Pakistan in the opening game of the T20 World Cup 2022 because the Men in Green rely more on their top order rather than India do.
"I feel, in the batting department, it's clear that Pakistan is over dependent on their top order like Babar and Rizwan. Whereas the Indian team is not actually dependent on a couple of players," Bangar said while speaking on Star Sports show 'Cricket Live'.
"There are 4-5 match winners and they are in their prime form, so, from a batting perspective, I feel the Indian team is in a better position," added the former India batting coach.
He also mentioned that though Pakistan pace attack have the speed, the Indian bowling order has the upper hand in terms of swing and movement.
"If you look at the bowling part, obviously, they have the speed, they always had that, but the Indian team has the skill in the sense that if Deepak Chahar is fit in place of Jasprit Bumrah you can clearly see his ability to swing the ball upfront," said Sanjay Bangar.
"Also Arshdeep Singh, who is our own version of a left-hander that we were searching for. So, he's somebody who can swing the ball both ways. I feel that the Indian team is lacking in the speed department, but they more than make up with the skill that they possess," he added.
