New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is slated to walk over 500 kilometres within a span of 21 days for the upcoming Bharat Jodo Yatra. The Wayanad MP will be visiting Maharashtra and Karnataka as part of the march.
The massive initiative will see party workers and leaders march from Kanyakumari to Kashmir over a span of five months under Gandhi's leadership, starting on October 2. The padyatra (march) will cover a distance of 25 km every day and will cover a cumulative distance of over 3500 km.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi had made an announcement about the yatra on the last day of the Chintan Shivir in Udaipur in May. The lengthy event will begin on Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary and cover more than 12 states. The yatra will include padayatras, rallies, and public meetings, which will be attended by the senior Congress leaders including Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
The party has also urged like-minded political parties, civil society groups, business and professional associations, and all Indians to join the Yatra.
