New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday visited Sabarkantha in Gujarat where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of multiple projects of Sabar Dairy at Gadhoda Chowki worth more than Rs 1,000 crores.
Addressing a public rally after inaugurating various projects of the Sabar Dairy, the prime minister said that ethanol blending with petrol, which was 40 crore litres before 2014, has now increased to 400 crore litres. The blending of ethanol with petrol has also increased the income of farmers, he said.
Sustained efforts made to increase the annual income of farmers in last eight years are showing results now, he said.
The PM also said that the appointment of Draupadi Murmu as the President of India is a "moment of great pride for more than 130 crore Indians."
"For the first time, the country’s daughter coming from tribal society has reached the highest constitutional post of India. The country has made Draupadi Murmu as its President. It is a moment of great pride for more than 130 crore Indians," he was quoted as saying by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). This comes amid a massive controversy over Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury’s remark, where he referred to Murmu as ‘rashtrapatni’ while talking to the media during his party’s protests over a host of issues.
In the evening, the prime minister will travel to Chennai and declare open the 44th Chess Olympiad at JLN Indoor Stadium. The next morning, he will attend the 42nd Convocation of Anna University.
Travelling back to Gujarat, he will visit GIFT City (Gujarat International Finance Tec-City) in Gandhinagar, where he will launch and lay the foundation stone of various projects, the PMO informed.

The prime minister visited Gujarat’s Sabarkantha and Sabar Dairy at around 12 pm on Thursday, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of multiple projects worth more than Rs 1,000 crores. In includes:
> The inauguration of a Rs 305 crore milk powder plant at Sabar Dairy with a capacity of around 120 metric tonnes per day (MTPD).
> The inauguration of a state-of-the-art Aseptic Milk Packaging Plant at Sabar Dairy. Having capacity of 3 Lakh Litre per day, the project has been executed with a total investment of around Rs 125 crores. It has the latest automation system with highly energy efficient and environment friendly technology. The project will help ensure better remuneration to milk producers.
The PM also laid the foundation stone of the Sabar Cheese and Whey Drying Plant Project. The estimated outlay of the project is around Rs 600 crores. It will have the capacity to manufacture Cheddar Cheese (20 MTPD), Mozzarella Cheese (10 MTPD) and Processed Cheese (16 MTPD). Whey generated during manufacturing of cheese shall also be dried at Whey Drying Plant, having capacity of 40 MTPD.
He also scheduled to address a large gathering and also interacted with 20 women cattle-rearers from Sabarkantha and neighbouring Arvalli district during the public event, the Sabar Dairy said in a release.
The Sabar Dairy is part of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (GCMMF), which makes and markets a whole range of dairy and milk products under the Amul brand.
On Friday, the prime minister will visit GIFT City in Gandhinagar, which was envisaged as an integrated hub for financial and technology services not just for India but for the world.
He will also lay the foundation stone of the Headquarters Building of the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) and launch launch India International Bullion Exchange (IIBX), India’s first International Bullion Exchange in GIFT-IFSC.

In Chennai, PM Modi will declare open the 44th Chess Olympiad in a launch programme organised at JLN Indoor Stadium at around 6 pm on Thursday. On Friday, PM Modi will attend the 42nd Convocation of prestigious Anna University in Chennai. He will award gold medals and certificates to 69 gold medalists, and also address the gathering on the occasion.
