Delhi AQI: After a day of respite AQI in national capital is in 'poor' category again at 262

The overall air quality in the national capital slightly improved to the 'poor' category zone on Friday morning. The average Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 262, according to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR). Around the same time on Thursday, the index was recorded at 172, falling in the ‘moderate’ category. Temperature is expected to drop further in Delhi on Sunday.

New Delhi: The overall air quality in the national capital slightly improved to the 'poor' category zone on Friday morning. The average Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 262, according to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR). Around the same time on Thursday, the index was recorded at 172, falling in the ‘moderate’ category.
Temperature is expected to drop further in Delhi on Sunday. The minimum temperature in the city is likely to be between 9-10 degree Celsius and the maximum will be around 27 degrees Celsius. Shallow fog is likely to cover the city in the morning and the sky will remain partly cloudy later, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
In Pusa, the AQI was 205, while in the Airport region it touched 209. For Mathura Road, it was 233. The air quality index in the IIT Delhi region was recorded at 142 and at Lodhi Road it was 159.
An AQI between 101 and 200 is considered 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 'severe'.
However, the air quality in Delhi might deplete again on Thursday with an estimated AQI at 232, according to SAFAR.
Meanwhile, The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Saturday held the third round of meetings with the chief secretaries of Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh and asked them to submit a detailed report on how to prevent air pollution in the Delhi-NCR region before November 25.
