Mumbai: Two women have been rescued by Mumbai police who were allegedly pushed into flesh trade. The cops arrested a female agent who was part of the prostitution racket from Thane city on Wednesday.
The Anti-Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC) of the city crime branch near a mall took the action on July 19 evening, mid-day reported. “Acting on a tip-off that some women were being pushed into flesh trade, police personnel acted as a decoy and later arrested the woman agent at Kapurbawdi locality,” senior inspector Mahesh Patil of the AHTC said.
A case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Immoral Traffic Prevention Act were registered against them.
Recently, in June 2022, the police rescued two teenage girls who were allegedly forced into the flesh trade. The girls were rescued from the Kashimira area of Mira Road in Maharashtra’s Thane district on June 10. Meanwhile, two women in this connection were arrested.
Similarly, in March 2022, the police had arrested a 30-year-old woman for allegedly operating a flesh trade racket in the city and rescued two women in Vartak Nagar.
The anti-human trafficking team of Thane police had rescued two women who were forced into prostitution by the accused. After receiving information about the crime, the police team arrested the racket's kingpin from a city-based mall. Police had then registered a case against the accused and launched an inquiry to nab her absconding associates, India Today reported.
Meanwhile, in another case, the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) had busted a human trafficking network that allegedly helped Bangladeshi immigrants to enter India illegally.
