Hyderabad: Senior doctor sexually abuses 54-year-old woman patient, claims it was part of treatment; gets 10-year jail

Hyderabad news: The victim got to know that she was sexually abused after another patient complained that she was molested by the doctor.

Hyderabad: In a major verdict by a Hyderabad court, a doctor has been sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting an elderly woman patient. The verdict was pronounced by a local court in Nampally on Monday.

The reported incident had taken place in 2016 when the 54-year-old woman patient was was sexually abused by the senior doctor.

After hearing the arguments from both sides and the evidence presented by prosecution, the court convicted the 61-year-old doctor and sentenced him to 10 years jail, according to a report in Times of India. The convicted doctor was shifted to jail on Monday.

The doctor was booked for rape and outraging the modesty of the woman under IPC sections at Gopalpuram police station. The victim, who was suffering from Asthma, was a regular patient at his clinic.

During one of her visit to the doctor, the woman complained that the doctor sexually abused her and touched her private parts.

When the vitcim questioned the doctor for his abusive behaviour, she was told that it was part of the treatment and she believed his words.

During her second visit to the doctor, the woman said she heard a female patient arguing with the doctor. When the victim enquired about the incident, the woman told her that the doctor was touching her private parts. It was then the victim realised that she was sexually abused by the doctor and narrated her ordeal to her husband.
