Andhra govt sanctions Rs 1 cr to help with 2.5-year-old kid's medical condition

BR Ambedkar Konaseema: The Andhra Pradesh government has sanctioned Rs one crore for the treatment of a two-and-a-half-year-old girl, Honey who is suffering from the rare Gaucher's disease.
The incident took place during the Chief Minister's visit to the flood-affected areas in the Konaseema district of Andhra Pradesh. The child's parents were seen holding a placard. Noticing it, the Chief minister stopped the convoy and reached out to the parents. Immediately responding to the concerns, the CM assured complete medical assistance to the child. The Chief Minister promised not only to sanction funds for the child's treatment but also for her education and well-being.
Gaucher's disease affects a person's bones and liver due to the building up of fatty substances, causing enlargement of the organs.
In all, at least 52 injections must be administered to the girl, with each costing Rs 1.25 lakh. The government coordinated with the injection manufacturer and secured the first lot of 13 to commence the girl's treatment.
Dr B R Ambedkar Konaseema district Collector Himanshu Shukla handed over the first set of 13 injections on Sunday to the girl's family at the government area hospital in Amalapuram for the girl's treatment.
The district Collector submitted a proposal to the government on required funds and accordingly, a sum of Rs one crore was sanctioned for the treatment of Gaucher's disease. The Collector added that a monthly pension would also be given to her family.
