Rajasthan: Police make the first arrest in the Alwar gang-rape case, seven others absconding

Jaipur: Police have arrested one man in the Alwar gang rape case where a 17-year-old girl was gangraped by eight men. The men had made a video of the crime and then threatened the girl that they would circulate the video and extorted money from her.

Police however said that the men later circulated the video on social media. Circle Officer Kishangarh Bas Atul Agre said that they have detained one of the accused in the case who has been identified as Akram.

The FIR in the case was registered on September 29 when the eight men gang raped the minor girl thrice, Times of India reported.

Explaining the case the SHO of the police station Amit Kumar said that the incident happend on December 31, 2021, when the victim got a call from one of the accused Sahil. Sahil told her that he had some objectionable pictures of her and pressurised her to meet him at a designated place. When the victim reached the place there were other men from the village present there who subdued the girl and then went on take turns to rape her.

But that wasn't the end of the ordeal for the victim. The men went on to rape her again on January 3 and then again on April 6.

The father of the victim told the police that the men made an obscene video of the incident and then extorted Rs. 50,000 from them for not circulating the video on social media. He further said that the men continued to extort money from them. But when they expressed their inability to pay them any more money they circulated the video on social media.

Amit Kumar said that all the men belong to the same village They have been identified as Javed, Arbaz, Talim, Mustakim, Salman and two others named Akram.

Police have formed several teams and have launched a major manhunt to look for the other accused in the case.

Meanwhile, police are interrogating Akram to find out more information about the other accused and also regarding the incident as well.
