DigiYatra App: Bengaluru airport gets facial recognition service for quicker boarding

The airport in Bengaluru has introduced a facial recognition technology that will facilitate travellers' smooth transit. Beginning today, the new facility will be utilised by AirAsia India and Vistara.

Bengaluru: The airport in Bengaluru has introduced a facial recognition technology that will facilitate travellers' smooth transit. Beginning today, the new facility will be utilised by AirAsia India and Vistara.
To automate entry and verification at all touchpoints, including airport entry, security screening, and boarding gates, passengers must download the Digi Yatra app.
The software will create a traveler's identification using its facial recognition feature, which will be connected to the boarding pass.
While the app's beta version is now accessible to Android users, the iOS version will be released in a few weeks.
Passengers can choose to use this feature voluntarily right now. All travellers who choose to use this app must link their Aadhar information, take a photo, and enter information about their Covid-19 vaccinations.
Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) announced in a statement regarding the security of the data supplied by travellers: "Passengers need not worry about giving their data as it is secure and will be removed within 24 hours following their travel."
The Digi Yatra feature has also been made available at Delhi's T3 airport, in addition to Bengaluru. At T3 of Delhi International Airport, where AirAsia India, Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Vistara fly, authorities debuted a beta version for domestic passengers.
The CEO of Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, reportedly stated, "The facial recognition technology will spare passengers from the procedure of identity checks at many points and encourage them to fly paperless as well as boost the airport safety."
