New Delhi: As the festival of Raksha Bandhan is right around the corner, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Pakistani sister Qamar Mohsin Shaikh sent rakhi and wished him for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Qamar Mohsin Shaikh further hoped that she gets to meet PM Modi this time.
"I hope PM Modi calls me to Delhi this time. I have done all the preparations. I made this rakhi by myself using a reshmi ribbon with embroidery design. I wrote a letter and prayed for his long, healthy life," Qamar told news agency ANI.
"I feel extremely happy as this is going to be my 26th Rakhi with him. I pray for him every day for his good health and long life. He has been doing appreciable work for the country. I am sending him a card with a hand-written message in it," she added.
Qamar also spoke on the 2024 General Elections and said 'there is no doubt he (Narendra Modi) will become the prime minister again.' "He deserves this because he has those capabilities and I wish him to be the Prime Minister of India everytime," she said.
Qamar Mohsin Shaikh sent a rakhi and a Raksha Bandhan card to PM Modi last year also.
The festival of Raksha Bandhan is celebrated on the full moon of the Saavan month of the Hindu year.
To mark the occasion and acknowledge the sacrifices made by the Indian Armed Forces personnel, students of various schools in Delhi and Tamil Nadu on Saturday handed over self-made rakhis to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for the soldiers guarding the border. "As the Defence Minister of the country, I assure you that I myself will provide these rakhis to the three service chiefs so that these can reach the jawans of all the three services," Rajnath Singh said while speaking to news agency ANI.
