Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo only started on the bench as the club came out on top against bitter-rivals Liverpool in the Premier League clash on Monday night. On this occasion, Ronaldo's situation at the club became one of the hottest topics on social media.

Though the debate over whether Ronaldo should remain at Manchester United or be released from his duties remains a serious one, a rather funny video surfaced on social media featuring the Portuguese, Garry Neville, Jamie Carragher, and Roy Keane.

While Neville and Keane are former Manchester United players, Carragher is one of the most prominent Liverpool players. The trio is presently working as pundits at Sky Sports. As they were covering the Manchester United vs Liverpool match as pundits, Ronaldo came in to greet them ahead of the start of the match.

The United striker had a warm exchange with both Neville and Keane, his former Manchester United teammates, but he completely ghosted the ex-Liverpool man Carragher. Since the incident, Ronaldo's treatment of Carragher has strongly been discussed among fans on social media, with many even unleashing hilarious memes summarising the incident.

Ronaldo was left out of United's starting XI for the big match. Keane was even heard asking Ronaldo in the video why he was left out in match as crucial as this. In response, the 37-year-old said: "What do you want me to do?"

Carragher has been a staunch critic of Ronaldo over the years. Speaking of Ten Hag's decision to leave out both Cristiano Ronaldo and club captain Harry Maguire, Carragher had earlier said: "Those two will be really disappointed. Maybe Maguire just needs to come out of the firing line.

"If I'm being honest, I don't think ten Hag wants Ronaldo around the place. As soon as he's got options, he's put him on the bench. In two weeks time, I think he'll be gone."

Ronaldo has reportedly been looking to leave United the entire summer but a fruitful move hasn't materialised yet. Whether something will happen with regards to his future in the coming days or not, remains to be seen.
