Jofra Archer is one of the biggest names in world cricket right now when it comes to express pace bowling. However, he has missed out a majority of the past few months due to injury. In fact, Archer hasn't made an appearance for England since March 2021. This is because he was forced to undergo two seperate surgeries for a long-standing problem in his elbow.
Jofra Archer was supposed to return to action for Sussex in the Vitality T20 Blast, but was ruled out of the entire summer due to a stress fracture injury on his back. In a recent interview, Archer revealed that he might return to the game in September, and even teased a return to the England squad for the T20 World Cup in October. However, there have been concerns as to whether the right arm pacer can ever be back in action for Test Matches.
In fact, in an interview to Betway, former England captain Kevin Pietersen had expressed concerns over the future in Test Matches for Jofra Archer. "It's terrible news for poor Jofra Archer that he'll miss the whole summer. He's shown moments of brilliance for England and other teams and it's just a horrible blow for him. It's difficult to imagine him recovering from this to play long-form cricket again, that's the horrible reality," said Pietersen.
However, England's Managing Director Rob Key has said that Jofra Archer will be back as England are a better team in all three formats with the fast bowler in the lineup. "Jofra's a little way off. Hopefully he'll be back. Every time I watch England play, as well as we’re doing at times, I think we're still a better side with Jofra Archer coming into it," Key said in an interaction with Mirror.
Key has also said that he has been preparing a lot for the return of Jofra Archer. "I'm preparing for everything for Jofra Archer. I am hopeful he will be involved in everything. Unless there's someone knows a lot more about backs and injuries I am not going to change my view on that. We don't have to look that far ahead," Key added.
