An (unfortunately) viral video shows a street vendor making ‘Mango Maggi’ with a side of Slice - a culinary experiment not meant for the faint hearted.

In the video shared by popular Instagram food blog named The Great Indian Foodie, a woman at a food stall can be seen pouring ghee (purified butter), Maggi masala and some water in a pan before adding India’s beloved noodles Maggi.

However, a few seconds later, the street vendor generously pours Slice (a mango drink) all over the noodle block and adds freshly cut slices of mango to the innovative mix, and lo and behold, your "Mango Maggi' is served.

Sharing the video to Instagram, @thegreatindianfoodie wrote, “Summers agyi hai ab mango bhi favourite hai and maggi bhii. Kyu na dono sath me hojaye? Presenting special Mango Maggi”

The clip has been viewed over 1.5 lakh times online and seems to have evoked a collective cringe as disgusted netizens unanimously disapproved of the fusion.

“Goddd, find me another planet,” read one plea from a helpless Instagrammer as another commented, “Seriously need a dislike button plz.. Maggi is still an emotion and the most priced food for many.

Many found the fusion of spice and sweet incompatible and couldn’t believe what they were seeing was a true recipe.

One user said, “Pls tell me yeh video ke liye banaya tha aur aisa milta nahi! Maggi mein mango daalna tha toh masala kyu daal dia doodh daalke atlst sweet variant banalete”

The age of the internet and a compulsive need for uniqueness has left many food businesses resorting to food fusion. While little can be said about the gustatory appeal of these bizarre food combinations, they sure are an effective strategy to get engagement and recognition.
