A woman moved 14,400 kms away from her home to marry a Maasai tribesman 30 years younger than her. Deborah Babu, who is 60 now, said she ‘couldn’t be happier’ despite being criticised for her relationship with a younger man. She met Saitoty Babu while travelling in Tanzania with her daughter in October 2017.

Stories of two people from strikingly different cultures or with a vast age difference coming together for love surface on social media all the time.
But some stories are bizarre enough to garner worldwide media attention.
Earlier this week, websites around the world reported the unusual union of an 18-year-old girl and a 78-year-old man in the Philippines.
Septuagenarian Rashad Mangakop, who is a retired farmer, married teenager Halima Abdullah after having met her for the first time at a dinner party in the Cagayan province when she was just 15.
Rashed had apparently never married before nor had a lover. The two spent three 'happy years' together before tying the knot in an Islamic ceremony on August 25.
The unusual relationship with an age gap of 60 years received consent from both families.
Now, another unusual tale of love has started making waves on the internet.
The mother and daughter bumped into Saitoty while walking on a beach in Zanzibar. When they were offered some souvenirs by Saitoty and his fellow tribesman, Deborah declined them but asked if they could take a photo with them.
That's how the two struck up a friendship that would eventually evolve into a romantic relationship. Saitoty even accompanied Deborah and Joyce to their next destination.
The question of marriage was popped from Saitoty when Deborah returned to the US.
With some motivation from her kids, she went back to Tanzania in December. That's when Saitoty proposed to her.
The pair got married in traditional Maasai style in June 2018. But their wedding was made legal only this year.
"I never expected to find a husband and marry someone so much younger than me but he is the kindest and most caring man," said Deborah.
"People ask if I adopted him or that I’m his grandma which can make Saitoty upset. We just like to focus on us and our happiness," she added.
