Ludhiana: Man rapes 23-year-old woman on pretext of marriage, case registered

Ludhiana News: Police have booked the accused man under section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and launched a manhunt to nab him.

Ludhiana: A 23-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a man from Balloke village in the Ludhiana district of Punjab on the pretext of marriage.
The matter came to the fore after the victim, a resident of the Gautam Vihar colony of Haibowal lodged a complaint with the police on June 29.
Meanwhile, police have booked the accused man under section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and launched a manhunt to nab him, reported The Hindustan Times.
The victim, who was in a relationship with the man, alleged that the accused threatened her against speaking about the ordeal when she asked him to marry her.
She further said that the accused promised to marry her before establishing a physical relationship with her.
Assistant sub-inspector Madan Lal, who is investigating the case said the FIR was lodged under section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code after investigating the case. “We have launched efforts to arrest the accused,” said Lal as reported by HT.
