Ekta Kapoor’s lawyer denies reports of arrest warrants against her, mother Shobha Kapoor in XXX case - details

Ekta Kapoor hit headlines after reports surfaced that arrest warrants have been issued against her and her mother Shobha Kapoor after an ex-serviceman named Shambhu Kumar lodged a complaint against them. Shambhu, a resident of Begusarai, alleged in his complaint that the second season of the web show XXX, produced by Ekta and Shobha, carried objectionable scenes relating to a soldier’s wife.

Now, reacting to the reports doing rounds, the telly queen’s lawyer has issued a statement denying the issuance of arrest warrants against the mother-daughter duo.

“In the recent past, there have been news articles alleging the issuance of arrest warrants by a Magistrate Court in Begusarai, Bihar against Ms Ekta Kapoor and Mrs Shobha Kapoor. These news articles which appear to have been made on the basis of alleged statements of the advocate for the individual who has filed the complaint are false and inaccurate as no arrest warrants have been received by Ms Ekta Kapoor or Mrs Shobha Kapoor,” the lawyer representing Ekta in the court said in the statement.

Previously, speaking about the complaint filed by Shambhu against Ekta and Shobha, his lawyer Hrishikesh Pathak had told PTI, “The court had issued summons to them (Kapoors) and asked them to appear before it in connection with the matter. They (Kapoors), however, informed the court that certain scenes in the series were removed after the objection. But they did not appear before the court following which the warrant was issued against them.”

Speaking of XXX, the erotic comedy-drama aired on ALTBalaji, an OTT platform owned by Ekta’'s Balaji Telefilms Ltd. The first season of the web show premiered in 2018 while the second season came out in 2020.
