One that has intrigued viewers of Brahmastra Part One is the new mysterious character Dev. Director Ayan Mukerji has now revealed more.

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer Brahmastra opened at theatres on September 30 and took the nation by storm. The Ayan Mukerji directorial, not only trumped other biggies of 2022 (The Kashmir Files, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2), but also managed to create several record overseas.

Another thing that has intrigued viewers of Brahmastra Part One is the new mysterious character Dev. The character, so far, has only been shown as a faceless mysterious villain, who will be front and centre in Part two. Numerous fan theories have been floating around the identity of the new villain.

As per reports, when inquired about who plays the role, Ayan stated that he would not answer the queries but he loved the theories and it is part of the fun of the storytelling.

The actor, however, revealed that the thoughts about the character and the actor who plays him were almost concrte as early as 2019. He added, "There was a point at which in the middle of making Part One, we really found the time to start pursuing this whole Dev vision. The real Brahmastra story and conflict comes alive in Part Two.”

He added that in terms of Dev, he would go out on a limb and say he is possibly the most exciting character that he has taken on in his filmmaking career.

“I am extremely thrilled about the potential of Dev and I hope things align for us in the next three years in a way where we can be able to give you guys in our minds for this," he said as per a report in Hindustan Times.

The filmmaker, however, added there was a point where he was all set to reveal the actor in Brahmastra 1 itself. "To be honest, for a long time, we were going to end the film with even the face reveal of Dev’s character. It was with a lot of thought and a desire to create some curiosity in the minds of the audiences that we ended the film where we did," the actor added.
