Ganeshotsav 2022: Guided tours of famous Ganpati pandals to be organised in Mumbai for devotees, tourists
For this year's Ganpati celebration commencing on August 31, the Maharashtra government's tourism department has organised guided tours of popular pandals for devotees and tourists in Mumbai and Pune. These planned tours will go on till September 9 and will cost Rs 850 for Indians and Rs 1,600 for foreigners (per person) in Mumbai.

Mumbai: The Maharashtra government's tourism department has planned guided tours of popular Ganpati pandals in Mumbai for this year's Ganeshotsav. Such tours will also be available in neighbouring Pune. The Ganesh Chaturthi festival will be celebrated on August 31 this year.
The Directorate of Tourism (Dol) will hold these tours in collaboration with registered tourist guides. Commencing on Ganesh Chaturthi, these tours will end on the occasion of Ananta Chaturthi on September 9.
Moreover, the tourists will also get to attend a ‘Ganesh idol-making workshop’ in Parel, where the group will be able to attempt making/sculpting idols and meet and interact with the professional idol maker.
Under this initiative, the tourists/devotees in Mumbai will be escorted to the famous Fort cha Raja in the Fort area, Keshavji Naik Chawl Ganapati in Girgaon, Lalbaughcha Raja in Lalbaug, Mumbaicha Raja of Ganesh Galli in Lalbaug, and the GSB Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Samiti in Wadala.
Meanwhile the group in Pune will be taken to Kasba Ganpati in Kasba Peth, Kesari Wada Ganpati of Kesari Wada in Narayan Peth, and Tambdi Jogeshwari Ganpati, Tulsi Baug Ganpati, Guruji Talim Ganpati, Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati and Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganapati—all in Budhwar Peth
The tour in Mumbai will cost Rs 850 per person for Indians and Rs 1,600 per person for foreigners from 9 am to 2 pm, while the tour in Pune is priced at Rs 350 and Rs 550 per person for Indians and foreigners respectively, from 9 am to 12 pm.
This year, Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated with full fervour in Maharashtra after restricted celebrations for the last two years amid the Covid-19 pandemic. During the pandemic celebrations, the height of Ganesh idols was capped and several other curbs were put on the public festivities.
