Is The Sandman Season 2 confirmed on Netflix?

The Sandman hit Netflix on August 5 and received largely positive reception from fans and critics alike. The series, which came to fruition after decades of attempts at adapting Neil Gaiman's comic book series of the same name sees Morpheus, aka Dream (Tom Sturridge), one of the Endless, who has been imprisoned for over a centure, escape and return to his realm, The Dreaming. However, things have changed since he vanished and he needs to assert his power once again.
The Sandman season 2 has not been renewed officially, but in a recent interview, The Sandman's VFX supervisor Markiewicz did hint at the possibility of one. That soon led to a tirade of speculations on social media. Now, author Neil Gaiman has finally shed some light on the alleged developments.
Replying to fan queries on his Twitter feed, Neil wrote, "We don't have a season 2. But the scripts have been written and the VFX department has been working on it. Read the interview," referring to the recent interview by the VF supervisor.

However, when a fan rued the fact that there is no season 2, Neil was quick to correct the person, writing, "We aren’t NOT getting a second season yet. Everyone seems to be jumping the gun on each side. Our numbers were great. @Netflix is examining every number and algorithm to decide if they can make more. As soon as they come to a conclusion we will know."
Meanwhile in the recent interview with Screen Rant, Markiewicz confirmed that The Sandman crew isn't waiting for a renewal to start working on season 2. In fact, they've constructed a strong framework for it already. Markiewicz shared that while the scripts are still being reworked, they definitely have a story arc moving forward and all the fine-tuning is happening now.
