Kanpur: Two brothers allegedly repeatedly raped their 16-year-old ‘adopted’ sister in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur district. The two accused have been arrested and sent to jail.
Police said, during the investigation, they found that the parents of the accused had illegally adopted the victim girl from the orphanage in 2013. However, no documents related to the adoption have been shown.
The teenage victim told the police that she belongs to the Banda district and her father left her and her three sisters in their maternal home after her mother passed away in 2013, reported news agency IANS.
However, the girl was later sent to an orphanage by her maternal relatives.
The orphanage authorities handed the girl to businessman Mehboob Ali and his wife Shahjahan Begum, who are from Nala Road in Kanpur. At that time, the age of the victim was five.
Police said that both the step brothers raped the girl and made her obscene video. They later threatened the girl to make the video viral and repeatedly raped the victim by blackmailing her.
The minor girl will be presented before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and sent for medical treatment. Further investigation into the matter is underway, reported IANS.
